Take an artwalk to see your artwork of characters from "Gilgamesh"
Watch Rick Steves travel video on Iran. Take notes on 10 different thing you learn. Notes should be a line or two long rather than just 3 or 4 words or whole paragraphs. IF YOU MISSED THIS CLASS, GET IN TOUCH WITH ME FOR A TIME TO SEE THIS VIDEO AT LUNCH OR DOING A FREE PERIOD, OR YOU CAN WATCH IT ON GOOGLE VIDEO. YOU NEED TO TAKE NOTES ON 10 THINGS YOU LEARN WHILE WATCHING IT.
HWK: READ PGS 3-86 OF "PERSEPOLIS." SOME SCENES OF VIOLENCE APPEAR ON PAGES 50, 51, 74 AND 80. Feel free to completely skip those pages.

Work in groups of 3 to discuss questions from the first 5 books of "Epic of Gilgamesh," then share answers with the whole class. IF YOU MISSED THIS CLASS, YOU MUST GET A COPY OF THESE QUESTIONS FROM THE HOMEWORK BOX, CHOOSE 2 BOOKS, AND ANSWER THE QUESTIONS FOR EACH OF THEM. TYPE THESE ANSWERS IN COMPLETE SENTENCES AND IN DECENT DETAIL -- AT LEAST 3 SENTENCES FOR EACH QUESTION.

Get homework schedule for the rest of the semester
Lecture on background to "The Epic of Gilgamesh" and examples of cuneiform. IF YOU MISSED THIS CLASS, BE SURE TO PICK UP THE 11 X 17 ARTICLE FROM THE HOMEWORK BOX TITLED "EPIC HERO" AND READ IT FOR BACKGROUND INFO.
As time permits, we begin reading the Epic together
HWK: READ THROUGH BOOK 5 AND BEGIN ANSWERING THE STUDY QUESTIONS. THOSE QUESTIONS AREN'T ACTUALLY DUE UNTIL THE READING OF THE EPIC IS FINISHED.
