Look at copy of storyboard for about 7 minutes of Alfred Hitchcock's "North by NW" and then watch those 7 minutes, comparing the end result to the storyboard

"Stack your values" activity and discussion based on the reading. IF YOU MISSED THIS CLASS, you should get the pink list of "values" from the hwk box and, using the 10 values on the sheet, prioritize your values, giving the one you cherish most the 1st place on your list. Then you should prioritize values for the people of China that we've read about in "Wild Swans," listing them in order of what they cherish most. Then write me one 5-8 sentence paragraph explaining any differences/similarities that you see.

IF YOU MISSED THIS CLASS, you should come in at lunch on Monday to get the discussion questions and watch the film. It's hard (though not impossible) to find online. No homework for this class.

Discuss the book and read the ending. Discussion focused on the use of similes and onomatopoeia as literary devices because you'll be addressing lit devices in your passage analysis next class.

Groups of 3 work on "Name that chapter." IF YOU MISSED THIS CLASS, you should go to the last 5 chapters of the book, think about the main idea/event of the chapter, and write 1-2 sentences that sum up those ideas/events. Next, create a short title that hints at those ideas/events. Turn in for credit by Friday.

HWK: Study for vocab test and be ready for your passage analysis.

Most students were gone for Foreign Language Day. We watched Putamayo World Beat videos while doing rangoli artwork.

IF YOU MISSED THIS CLASS, YOU NEED TO DO THE ARTWORK AND HAND IN ON TUESDAY. I LAID OUT THE TECHNIQUES AND REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ARTWORK LAST CLASS. Remember that you'll be graded as follows: fill the page with a geometric design or a design from nature, use lots of color and detail, be basically symmetrical, and do neat, careful work.
